Hilma af Klint

Hilma af Klint (1862–1944) was a pioneering Swedish artist and mystic, widely regarded as one of the first abstract painters in Western art. Decades before abstract art became mainstream, she created bold, colorful, and geometric works inspired by spiritualism, nature, and the mystical. Her art was deeply symbolic, exploring the connection between the physical and spiritual realms. Despite her groundbreaking work, she remained relatively unknown until the late 20th century, as she requested her abstract paintings be kept hidden until 20 years after her death.
